The annual award ceremony has always celebrated the best artists in the industry regardless of their nationality. This year’s star-studded event was bigger and better than ever.
From the iconic K-pop group to the blonde serenader, the Microsoft Theatre event was a magical occasion for various celebrities who went home with prestigious awards.
Taylor Swift And BTS Broke Records At The AMAs
As reported by USA Today, the Los Angeles affair was a memorable moment for various artists and groups such as BTS and Swift.
The “You Belong with Me” songstress previously made history as the artist with the most AMAs wins, but she surpassed expectations by breaking her record.
The 31-year-old has amassed a total of 34 awards after becoming a 7-time favorite female pop artist award winner in addition to the best pop album award for “Evermore.”
On the other hand, the K-pop stars achieved an extraordinary feat by winning every category they were nominated for, including the artist of the year award and favorite pop song.
During the “Dynamite” singers’ acceptance speech for the Best Artist award, RM, the group’s frontman, spoke about the stars’ rise to fame from their first appearance at the AMAs four years ago. In his words:
“It’s been a long and amazing ride since then, but nobody could have ever bet on the odds of us standing here receiving this award.”
The Bangtan Boys also took home the favorite pop duo or group award for the third time in a row, and they ended the magical event with an incredible performance of their award-winning song, “Butter.”
Aside from Swift and BTS, there were other highlights at the AMA’s, such as the rising singer, Olivia Rodrigo, who was the most nominated artist at the AMA’s.
Although the singer-songwriter was nominated for seven categories, the 18-year-old went home with only one trophy — the new artist of the year award.
