Soldotna baseball rolls past Homer


The Soldotna baseball workforce rolled previous Homer 13-2 in six innings of Southcentral Conference play Tuesday on the Soldotna Little League fields.

The Stars, winners of 4 straight, transfer to 7-1 within the league and 9-2 general, whereas the Mariners fall to 1-6 and 2-8.

Atticus Gibson and Riley Johnson mixed to carry down Homer’s bats.

Gibson received the win by working 4 innings and giving up two unearned runs on three hits whereas strolling none and hanging out six. Johnson completed issues up with two scoreless, hitless innings. He struck out two.

The Stars led 1-0 after an inning, 4-1 after two innings and 10-2 after three innings. With three runs within the backside of the sixth, SoHi compelled the mercy rule.

Jacob Belger scored three runs for the Stars, whereas Levi Mickelson was 3 for 4, Gavin Jones had a pair of RBIs, Johnson scored twice, Nate Mowery had two runs and two RBIs, Evan Appelhans scored a pair of runs, and Derrick Jones had two hits and two runs.

For Homer, Mylan Johnson gave up 9 runs — six earned — on six hits whereas strolling two and hanging out two. Malachi Raymond pitched the final three innings, giving up 4 runs on six hits whereas strolling two.

Johnson, Zach Marley and Raymond had the hits for Homer, whereas Marley and Gabe Dash had runs.
