Road Nats 2022: elite riders take on Mount Buninyong | The Courier

UPDATE | 12.15pm Nicole Frian from Roxsolt has won the Women’s road race and is now the Australian Women’s champion. The men’s road race is due to begin at 12.30pm. EARLIER: The sky is blue and the weather is clear as elite cyclists from across Australia have begun to tackle the climb up Mount Buninyong today. The road races come on the fifth day of the Aus Cycling 2022 Federation University Road National Championships. Elite female cyclists and under-23 women are racing for nine laps of an 11.6-kilometre course (104.4-kilometres) this morning. Meanwhile, the elite men are due to take to the course at 12.30pm, when they compete during 16 laps (185.6-kilometres) of the course. With the day forecast to warm up to a high of 31 degrees, it is expected crowds will gather around the course to see all the action. The action means that road closures will continue until this evening. These include Warrenheip Street at Buninyong, which will remain closed between Eyre Street and the Midland Highway until 9pm.
