RBA’s cash rate decision might get people to focus on ‘proven competence’

Sky News host Peta Credlin says yesterday’s RBA resolution to carry the rate of interest to 0.35 per cent would possibly get Australians to give attention to “proven competence versus personal character”.

“Who do you reckon is better placed to manage the economic difficulties ahead: an experienced prime minister who was previously a treasurer, and a treasurer who’s competently handled the pandemic,” Ms Credlin stated.

“Or an unknown opposition leader who’s never had an economic portfolio, and that bloke you saw before, the shadow treasurer, his main claim to fame is he was a chief of staff to Wayne Swan.

“For me, it’s very hard to think that the best person placed to manage this interest rate rise … is the very same bloke who didn’t know what the interest rate was a couple of weeks ago.”
