Lakshya Sen has defeated Thomas Rouxel in straight sets. While he faced a stiff challenge against the French player in the opening set, he won the opening set single-handedly with a decent margin. He went on to win as many as 7 consecutive game points and a game point.

  • Lakshya Sen beats Thomas Rouxel in first set 21-17- India’s Lakshya Sen was brilliant in the opening set against his French rival. He also won a game point and came from behind to stun Rouxel despite losing 7 consecutive points in a row.

Sen’s best performance in 2021 is reaching the finals of the Dutch Open. He won his last trophy at Bangladesh International in 2019 (3 in the same year).

Seventh-seeded women’s doubles pair Ashwini Ponappa/N Sikki Reddy beat Mariia Stoliarenko/ Yelyzaveta Zhark off Ukraine in just 24 minutes 21-8, 21-13.

Meanwhile, Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli was the only Indian woman featured in the German Open. Ukrainian competitor Maria Ulitina thrashed her in straight sets. Ajay Jayram made an early exit losing to fifth seed Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 14-21, 21-19, 16-21. Sourabh Verma also lost 21-12, 21-9 to Max Weisskirchen of Thailand.

Former World No 13 Ajay Jayram lost to fifth seed Rasmus Gamke in a tough fight. After going down in the first game 14-21, Jayram bounced back to beat Gemke 21-19 in the second game but lost the decider 16-21 to make an early exit.
