Federal budget should not ‘bake in’ more spending

Deloitte Access Economics Lead Partner Pradeep Philip says the federal government might want to guarantee deficits don’t proceed to rise.

Mr Philip stated there are three key areas to border the federal price range; the worldwide surroundings, consolidating the financial surroundings, and serving to individuals.

“Playing with the fuel excise can have the effect of baking it in,” he advised Sky News Australia.

“Fuel excise is used to pay for roads and things like that. We don’t want to cut the revenue mechanism that allows us to spend on those long-term infrastructure needs of the country.”
