Comedian Dave Chappelle attacked on stage in LA during Netflix show

Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked on Tuesday evening by a person who rushed on stage whereas the comic was acting at a Los Angeles venue, police have confirmed.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman mentioned officers responded to the incident on the Hollywood Bowl about 10.45pm. The man, who was carrying a reproduction gun, was taken to a close-by hospital to be evaluated for accidents. Chappelle was not severely harmed, police mentioned.

The LAPD spokesman mentioned the incident was being investigated and that the person was in police custody.

Organisers of the present, a part of the Netflix Is A Joke competition, strictly prohibited attendees from utilizing their telephones. Still, clips of the incident – which confirmed Chappelle, microphone in hand, being tackled – rapidly went viral.

After the person rushed on the stage in the direction of the present’s finish, Chappelle’s safety group of “at least 10 people” started punching and kicking the alleged attacker, based on BuzzFeed News reporter Brianna Sacks, who was on the present.

“Sheer chaos,” Sacks wrote on Twitter. “Then Jamie [Foxx] comes out in a cowboy hat, looking absolutely shocked, and [Chappelle] makes a joke about stomping the guy, who is still getting beat up.”

LAPD cruisers have been behind the stage whereas rappers Talib Kweli and Mos Def carried out, she added.
